Holy Habits
In this pre-Advent course we explore Holy Habits, what causes them to stick and what prompts us to engage with Jesus more deeply each day. We will explore the little things that we do with our bodies, our minds and our spirits that draw us closer to God. The course will run at 7pm at St. Luke’s church in the four Thursdays running up to the 1st Sunday of Advent starting on the 7th November. The first talk & discussion will be…
Friday Mass
A simple said mass held in the Lady Chapel of St. Luke’s. Informally led with no instance, but with reverence, candles, a simply hymn, and vestments. This smaller mass is usually very friendly and has a special focus on more in depth teaching during the homily. Beauty and simplicity combine to create a special service held tightly together in the love we experience together.
Sunday Mass, SL
Sunday Mass at St. Luke’s is a joyful and loud affair! Organ led music and singing, incense, bells, and vestments. A traditional mass using the Church of England’s liturgy with lots of movement and noise. Children take part in our Sunday School at the back of church and toddlers roam free. It’s the ultimate expression of family care and worship. You’re warmly welcomed and can find out what to expect here. You can also download the order of service using the…
Team Evening Prayer
A service of Evening Prayer using the Book of Common Prayer. This service is a simple and quiet time to offer praise and prayer to God through the beauty of the BCP. It forms part of a new joint service with the Newton Abbot Team that will broadly be every 5th Sunday, although shifting slightly when it interferes with more important dates (like Advent Sunday). The service will travel around the parishes within the Newton Abbot Team, allowing you to…
Tuesday Mass
Mass at St. John’s. A simple said mass held in the side chapel at St. John’s. Easy to follow, informally led. No incense, but bells, candles and vestments along with a simple hymn. Stay after mass for some tea, coffee, cake, and natter.
Wednesday Mass
A simple said mass held in the Lady Chapel of St. Luke’s. Informally led with no incense, but with reverence, candles, a simply hymn, and vestments. Beauty and simplicity combine to create a special service held tightly together in the love we experience together. Stay after mass for a time of fellowship over tea, coffee, cake, and a natter.
A Time Traveller’s Guide to Mark
A Time Traveller’s Guide to Mark: A talk on life in New Testament times, which will help you gain a richer understanding of both this Gospel and the New Testament as a whole. On the 1st December we’ll be joined by the Rev’d Dr. Chris Moore for an afternoon lecture on the Gospel of Mark. But this is no ordinary talk! Rev’d Chris will walk us through the gospel using the geography, climate, economy, the everyday life of the ordinary…
