A Time Traveller’s Guide to Mark: A talk on life in New Testament times, which will help you gain a richer understanding of both this Gospel and the New Testament as a whole.
On the 1st December we’ll be joined by the Rev’d Dr. Chris Moore for an afternoon lecture on the Gospel of Mark. But this is no ordinary talk! Rev’d Chris will walk us through the gospel using the geography, climate, economy, the everyday life of the ordinary jew, and what is was really like to live under Roman occupation to open up Jesus’ message of hope and love in a new and intriguing way. It’s the perfect way to start Advent.
Don’t miss it. 3pm, St, Luke’s Church, 1st Sunday of Advent.
Nibbles, snacks, and drinks will be served during the talk.
The talk will be followed by Evening Prayer with Sherry served afterwards.
Please do sign up if you can, this will help us organise the catering.
The Rev’d Dr. Chris Moore is Rector of the Fownhope Benefice and author of the Hodder Bible Commentary on Mark’s Gospel. His doctoral research was on Christ in the Gospels of Mark and John.
