Wickham Hall, Terms of Hire

All are very welcome to use Wickham Hall for gatherings, meetings and family occasions.

It is the responsibility of St John’s PCC (Parochial Church Council) to ensure those using the Hall have an enjoyable and safe experience. We therefore ask that the terms and conditions of hire are adhered to.

The person signing agreeing to these terms must be over 18 years of age and be on site throughout the duration of the hire, and they shall be deemed to be the Hirer. 

Wickham Hall Terms and Conditions of Hire

Responsibilities of the hirer:

  • The booking fee must be paid before or on the date of hire.
  • Numbers using the Hall must not exceed 70 persons (adult or child). The Hirer should familiarise themselves with emergency exit routes, evacuation procedures and the fire alarm system.
  • Children should be supervised at all times.
  • The Hirer should be mindful of the health and safety of all persons during the hired session.
  • The Hall should be left in the same condition as it was found. Any breakages or damages should be reported straightaway. The Hirer may be liable for any reasonable costs for repair or replacement.
  • The Hirer should indemnify the PCC for cost, damage or expenses arising from the Hall hire, and against liability for any personal injuries suffered by person(s), as a consequence of action(s) in breach of law.
  • There should be no alterations to fittings or fixtures without prior permission, and no nails/screws/drawing pins, etc. should be driven into the structure of the Hall.
  • The Hall should be used in a manner consistent with its status as a Church Hall and anything which may lead to disorder or excessive noise should not be permitted. Consideration should be given to neighbours, and also to appropriate parking.
  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside or outside in the grounds of Wickham Hall. Alcohol is not allowed to be sold on the premises.
  • Fire doors must not be blocked open, and fire extinguishers should remain in position unless in use.
  • Access to the hall is only within the hours of the hired session. 

The Churchwardens:

  • Reserve the right to enter any part of the premises at any time.
  • Reserve the right to cancel the booking, with any charges already paid refunded, and the PCC shall not be liable to pay any compensation due to their decision.
  • Will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any property brought onto the premises by any person. 
  • Will not be liable for any injury incurred by property brought onto the premises by any person.
  • Will ensure there is appropriate and up to date liability insurance. 

Cancellation:

If you cancel within 48 hours of your booking you will not be able to claim a refund. If you cancel your booking up to five days before your event you will be charged 50% of your booking amount less any processing fees. If you cancel more than 5 days in advance you will receive a full refund less any processing fees.
